Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Ram Navami was celebrated with grandeur across Siliguri on Sunday, with several processions and tableaux making their way through the city, especially towards Hill Cart Road. Devotees, many wearing saffron turbans and carrying saffron flags, chanted "Jai Shri Ram" as part of the Shobha Yatra. Hundreds of participants joined the religious march, which began early in the morning and included multiple decorated floats representing various episodes from Lord Ram's life.
A notable moment occurred in the Fulbari area, where members of the Muslim community welcomed the Ram Navami procession by showering flowers and distributing sherbet to the participants. Locals from the area gathered near the route of the Shobha Yatra and stood in solidarity as the procession passed by. The act was seen as a display of community participation in the public celebration, and several bystanders acknowledged the gesture with applause and mutual greetings.
Throughout the day, Siliguri witnessed dense crowds near major temples, where devotees offered prayers and rituals. Security arrangements were in place across key areas to manage the flow of processions and ensure smooth movement. The celebrations concluded peacefully, with no untoward incidents reported from any part of the city.
